A do-not-disturb sign you flip from anywhere.

Sign — a small e-paper display that lives outside your door. State — what it shows right now: a red DO NOT DISTURB, or an all-clear COME IN. Flip — changing the state, from wherever you happen to be.

Nothing is checked yet. This is the plan, in the order we're building it: what the sign is, how you set it up, and how you flip it.

The sign

What sits outside the door.

• Two states. A red DO NOT DISTURB when you're in a meeting, an all-clear COME IN when you're not. E-paper is slow to redraw — think seconds, not milliseconds — and then holds the image with no power at all.
• Runs on a board you can buy today. Waveshare's ESP32-S3-ePaper-1.54G: a 1.54-inch, 200 × 200 e-paper panel that draws red, yellow, black, and white, with Wi-Fi built in. We don't sell it; you order it from Waveshare.

Set it up

From box to door without a toolchain.

• Flash it from your desktop. A desktop app: plug the board in over USB-C, click Flash, and it boots straight into Meetingsign. No Arduino IDE, no esptool, no terminal.
• Join it to your Wi-Fi and your account. The flasher writes your Wi-Fi details and pairs the sign with your account, so the first time it boots it's already yours.

Flip it from anywhere

One sign, four ways to change it. The same state everywhere.

• From the web. Open the web app, tap the state you want.
• From your iPhone. An iOS app for the tap you'll actually make: you're walking into the call, you flip it from your phone.
• From the API. One HTTP call sets the state, so scripts, shortcuts, and automations can flip it for you.
• From your AI assistant. Connect Meetingsign to claude.ai or Claude Code and say “I'm heading into a meeting.” The sign turns red.
• Shared with your household or team. A sign belongs to a workspace, so a partner, an assistant, or a teammate can flip it too.

Make it yours

The two states are a default, not a rule.

• Your own words. Replace DO NOT DISTURB and COME IN with whatever your door needs: RECORDING, ON AIR, BACK AT 3, KNOCK FIRST.
• Your own images. Upload a picture for each state and the sign draws it in the panel's four colors.

Later

Further out, and honestly unscheduled.

• Calendar sync. Read your calendar and flip the sign to red when a meeting starts, back to COME IN when it ends.
• Other Waveshare boards. The same firmware on Waveshare's larger e-paper boards, including panels that can actually draw green.
